No one from Dell, either via email or telephone, was able to tell me how to do this so I had to discover the tool myself and then find out how to use it by experimenting. There was no documentation that I could find on this tool and it is not mentioned at all on the support website.

 

Look under the directory Dell\Utilities\DSR on your hard drive and you will find a file called

 

DSRIRRemv2.exe

 

Double click on this and then click the OK button to remove the Dell PC Restore partition (if you wish to)

 

Works like a charm and removes the blockage that preventing you partitioning your hard drive by removing the two extra hidden primary partitions associated with the Symantec (Dell) PC restore function.

Please Dell, tell people about this wonderful utility and put them out of their misery.
