XP Home - Pro :: Dell Support fails
I'm so frustrated I don't even know where to go at this point. Every time I've tried to work things out via Customer service it just gets worse and worse.
I ordered my Inspiron 1505 with XP Home with the intention of upgrading to XP Pro with my Action Pack license. Well when I was getting errors, being unable to simply upgrade from Home to Pro I contacted Customer Support. I know what the issue is now, but the solution the customer support person gave me was to send me a copy of XP Pro that should upgrade just fine on my machine. 'Wow' I thought, that's pretty generous.
Well the CD arrives ($24 later), and I begin installing... oh wait, I need a product key, but none was provided. Got back with customer support, we run around in circles again as I explain the situation (and they sent me to Microsoft who sent me back to Dell who sent me...). Well Dell said they'd send another one (I'd return the one they sent me at first) WITH a product key.
It arrives... XP HOME!!!!! I ALREADY HAVE XP HOME... so I spent almost $50 for them to send me a the OS I already have on my system. (oh by the way, NO PRODUCT KEY STILL)
I don't even know where to go from here. No offense intended, but I'm afraid some ESL person is going to goof up things again and cost me another $25 if I try to get in touch with Dell. At this point I'm ready to give up on XP Pro, I can live with Home... but for crying out loud is this suppost be customer SERVICE??? I've paid $50 for nothing but Dell miscommunication.
