XPS15 9510 CPU temps seem high under load?

Question

Hi, I've just taken delivery of a new 9510, with 11th gen core i7. I'm running a VM on half the cores, and the CPU in the VM is maxed out. As a result, the laptop CPU is running at about 50%. Under these conditions, the CPU temp goes right up to 100C, and pretty much stays there. Is that normal? That at 50% usage it goes straight to 100? It idles around 50C. I've installed dell power manager, and set it to ultra performance, this takes it down to ~90C, but that still seems high?

I've been looking into this as well, and have found a few other users commenting. The majority of owners, I think, don't download apps like CoreTemp or HWMonitor. However, I have an i9-11900H in my 9510 and under light load (e.g. web browsing) after being on for a little while mine idles between 45 - 52C and hits between 60 - 65C under light load...sometimes spiking to 70+C momentarily. While I've never 'seen it' HW Monitor has detected that it's hit 90C+ once in a while. I assume when it does, it is momentarily. I suspect it is due to packing an 8-core H-series processor into an 'ultrabook' body. I have my Dell Power Manager set to Optimized and that is probably part of it too...I almost never hear the fans come on.

Quick follow up. I just ran Cinebench on both battery and AC. On battery, temps were at 80C for the majority but clock speed was throttled to ~2.4Ghz across all cores. On AC temps hit 100C and clock speed was throttled at ~3.5GHz. For comparison I ran the multi-core stress test on an older XPS 9350 (6th gen dual core) and saw similar temps.
