Steam Machine R1, power cord short after battery replacement

hello

i recently had the yellow light of death, so i did what everyone suggest and changed the cmos battery originally it had an ML1220 battery all the replacement battery are cr2032 since they are both 3v batteries i just figured it would be the same, considering all the youtube videos they are using cr2032 and even when you buy the battery they sell u the cr 2032. anyway after installing the battery i noticed when i plug my power cable the cable shorts out, i tried multiple outlets with the same result. So i took out the battery and no short, could the issue be that its a cr2032 instead of ML1220? Any info would be great and thank you.
