Alienware big news coming

Alienware has mentioned that this Wednesday they will have a big announcement.

Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be?

What I’m hoping for :

1. A-51 Desktop (probably won’t happen yet, since the 3080ti isn’t released, nor is the new intel processors)

2. UFO handheld release info (most likely scenario since people would buy them up right now with the pandemic going on)

3. New wireless headset

any thoughts?

A51m R2? Check

Aurora R11? Check

All of you guys hoping for a full sized gaming desktop must be feeling like how Flash is for the iOS ecosystem.

What gets me. Is that it’s not even 2080ti.

I’ll be holding out for something better than that.

I think the biggest news for the R11 is the addition of a liquid cooling option for the GPU.  Essentially, the GPU cooler is powered via PCiE and connected to the bottom GPU slot, with hoses to the GPU.  No SLI option with liquid cooling though (since the bottom GPU slot is used up by the liquid cooler).

Huh? I'm having a hard time braining this. Maybe I should go reread the articles. EDIT:  But anyways, kudos to Dell for finally ditching the blower for AIO CLC.

Oh, I see it now.

https://wccftech.com/alienware-aurora-r11-enthusiast-gaming-desktop-pc-unleashed/

"Only a single RTX 2080 SUPER configuration comes with AIO liquid cooling support. The liquid cooling would be handled by a separate add-in-card which resembles a two-slot graphics card but only features the radiator."

But that's a radiator in a... wait for it... blower form factor! So what's the point of having such a constrained radiator only to have tiny blower fan blow on it?!

I was originally thinking it looked like a 240mm double fan rad, but now that you mention it, probably the other half of that space is the blower fan and apparatus.

That effectively moves the trending topics on this forum from noisy-fans to how-to-fix-my-Ryzen-Aurora to my-AIO-lights won't turn on in AlienFX.

Of course the perpetual my-Aurora-won't-accept-these-RAM-sticks-I-bought topics will continue.

At least it’s not LGA 1151. They screwed everyone who purchased an Alienware with those.

The nylon GPU radiator hoses are cool..

But still. It’s not cool unless it’s on a 2080ti. And releasing liquid cooling on the 2080ti when the 3080ti released will just be stupid

The next step Alienware will take here is:

When the 3080ti releases. The 2080ti will come with liquid cooling. And the 3080ti WONT, and will be hot and melt.

Another interesting tidbit.  Dell eliminated onboard graphics connectivity.  (1) all current CPU offerings are F class; in any event, (2) no displayport or other video connection on R11's IO shield.

Also, AIO card for GPU is $200.

NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 2080 SUPER 8GB GDDR6 (OC Ready)
+ $600.00

Liquid Cooled NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2080 Super™ 8GB GDDR6 (OC Ready)
+ $800.00

Guess that would have made me unhappy. My R8 is now running on iGPU because I'm too lazy to plug in the Kraken RX580.

$800 is reasonable asking price for 2080S Hybrid... I mean, it's just the price of an EVGA 2080S FTW3 Hybrid!

+$800 is for being a socker to replace the stock card.

That's $800 extra, in lieu of the base card (1650).  So actual charge is more like $1k when you factor in that you are not getting the 1650.

Therefore do the same drills like yours truly. Buy the cheapest config and flip that 1650 on the auction site.

We were talking about liquid cooled GPU. There's no liquid cooled 2080 Ti. Only liquid cooled 2080 Super.

I'm seeing a lot of comments on non 2080ti but I literally just put in an order for the $3999 option and was able to include Dual NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 2080 Ti 8GB GDDR6 (OC Ready) with NVIDIA NVLink SLI® Enabled for additional premium.  I'm missing something?

I recommend choosing the $3999 option over the $3949 (double RAM for $50) and over the $6049 (you're spending $400+ for the same specs as building the $3999 one) though.

Estimated delivery shows as July 7 which is poopy though.

And, if the GPU were liquid cooled, SLI would be an impossibility because the liquid cooler takes up the lower GPU slot.

I would would not want SLI 2080ti’s in this Alienware case. These cards already run hot. There’s no static pressure in the case to keep air moving

Im still waiting for a new a51 desktop replacement tower.

Maybe by the time it does release. The MMO I’m waiting for will release as well. (Ashes of creation)
