Alienware x51 (r2) DVI-D display problem
I've got a machine with a GTX745 video card. When using the DVI output to drive my (Dell U2713HM) monitor, the display is almost totally washed out .. it's as if the brightness is at maximum, and the contrast at minimum .. see attached photo. (HDMI works fine .. I'm not using that at the moment however for other reasons). Have done the standard troubleshooting, changing cables as well as monitors, and I'm pretty confident the problem is isolated to the video card hardware or settings.
I've tried a few different display settings, with no significant change. I'm stumped at the moment, and wondering if I have a settings issue (hopefully), or a defective card. Any comments or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

I wonder at what resolution and is the HDMI the same res.?
Both DVI interfaces and the cable are possible suspects. Just keep troubleshooting until you see problem move to other machine or see monitor not work on another computer (or see the DVI finally work).
About drivers for older cards ... sometimes an older WHQL driver works better.
Why are you not using DisplayPort?
Disable the on-board Intel in Windows DeviceManager if you have one.
Sometimes you only work on problems like this until you arrive at an acceptable work-around.

Looks like a nice monitor.

I wonder if this will help or just over-complicate things:
