Fwiw, I'm fan of BitDefender and used it for ages.  Consistently ranks at the top of class in most reviews.  

MCafee for 1 year is usually pre installed.

Thats the frst thing I remove when I get a new dell.

Not a good idea to try running more than 1 antivirus software.

IMPORTANT:

• Always download a new copy of MCPR before each use.  
  This ensures that you have the latest version, and that newer McAfee products can be successfully recognized.
  
• MCPR cleans up only the components needed for reinstallation. It is not designed to clean up 100% of components.
• Completing this step requires a restart.

1. Download the MCPR tool.
2. Double-click MCPR.exe.
3. If you see a security warning:
   
   Click Yes, Continue, or Run (depending on your version of Windows):
   
   

REMOVE

McAfee for 1 year is usually pre-installed.

That's the first thing I remove when I get a new Dell.

On the new Dells I have seen recently, McAfee trial subscription is only 30-days.

For us, just another reason to uninstall it and be sure free Microsoft Defender is setup and working instead.

Well, there are many antivirus software that you can use for your Alienware machine.

Some of the best antiviruses which I found from tech authority sites are

• McAfee
• Bitdefender
• Norton
• Avast

I prefer Avast antivirus because I'm using it and very satisfied with the security it offers to its users

My R10 came with nothing, not even a trial, which is good.

My G5 SE came with 1 year McAfee. First thing I did was uninstall it.

Windows 10 by default comes with Microsoft Defender, and that should be all you need. 

Really old post.  Probably got it sorted out last year.

I agree that Windows Defender does fine all by itself. AV-Test consistently rates it at the top of AV software they test.
