Area-51 R2, error code 43

Hi there. I have an issue with my Alienware Area 51 R2 since November

It all started when I moved house, was offline for a month or so then downloaded the latest NVidia Driver for my GeForce GTX 780 graphics card when I got back online (driver 441.66). Since then I have 'Code 43' error and my graphics card won't work and my display is showing columns of white horizontal lines that flicker (these are present in BIOS and don't appear in screenshots...). I am also experiencing an error message with my Dell U2414H monitor 'please connect a supported dell monitor' however I'm assuming these issues are linked to my GPU not being active.

I am running windows build 1903 but I did update to 1909 before realising that the Area 51 R2 is not supported (I've since reverted back to 1903).

I can't get any graphics driver to 'take' and have tried installing various drivers including the ones prior to 441.66 which were stable before using the windows tool/DDU and GeForce Experience

I haven't made any hardware changes to my desktop since I bought it in 2014

Would appreciate any thoughts!

GTX 780

Code 43 implies that Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.

1. No . That old Nvidia card was happy to run the old driver, and would have been fine (likely for another 6-12 months). IMO, you don't need to run "Nvidia (Beta-Tester) Experience" with an old GTX-780 .

2. Sounds like hardware might have got damaged (or partially disconnected internally) in move

3. Nice monitor. Connect to another computer to test it (with same video-input port ).

4. Who told you that ? AFAIK, if it was offered to you by Windows-10, you can run it.

5. Until things start looking better in BIOS and ePSA Diags (outside of Windows), you can just clean-install and run whatever WHQL Nvidia driver Windows-10 tosses you.

6. That is fine, but hopefully you have been (at least) cleaning-out the dust from the fans. You might now also want to re-seat the video card while inside.

Point 4. Dell told me that. The R2 is not listed as being supported for windows 1909. Thanks for the other tips though.

The monitor is fine - while ive not tested it on another computer I have tested another monitor on the PC and the same issue (columns of white lines) appears.

Cleaned and re-seated the card amd cleaned all the fans although it was really dusty in there.

Im now getting blue screen of death with  a 'DPC watchdog violation' since trying another suggestion fom the nvidia forum of installing the last 'certified' driver for my card.

Resigned to it being a GPU hardware issue caused by dust and damage moving it as no version of drivers seemed to work

I doubt that is accurate, but whateva ...

... i doesn't really matter. Sounds like your video card is toast (or some other hardware problem), and that computer will not behave properly without a 100% working video-card and other hardware.
