Aurora R10, 10 second quick tweak to make it much quieter
I hope my title is not too misleading but after tweaking two settings under Windows, my radiator fan is significantly quieter than default setting, as below:
1. setting cooling policy to passive
2. change max cpu state to 99%
Negative impact: you will lose ~25% cpu performance (not just 1% it implies), and your radiator will be much hotter (not warmer) than default setting. Front fan and GPU fans are not affected by this change, behavior seems to be the same old way. I ran Red Dead Redemption 2 at 4k highest setting and Cyberpunk 2077/Control at 1440p highest setting and did not notice any performance difference.
If you are running productivity software this will not be the setting you need, it is purely for gaming purpose.
Also FYI, I deleted AWCC from day 1 and all settings are either from BIOS or from Windows.

The performance drop is from the change of the cooling policy, not the Maximum Processor state.
Active Cooling
The active cooling policy will turn on and speed up the system fan to reduce the system temperature without affecting the system performance. This, in turn, increases the system power consumption.
Passive Cooling
The passive cooling will reduce the power consumption of the system components, hence reducing the overall system performance. This, in turn, saves power but also reduces system performance.
The Maximum processor state setting in Power Options allows users to specify the maximum percentage of processor capabilities to use. Lower percentage may result in significantly better battery life, but possibly lower performance.

I don’t understand why you would want to do this.
