Hi @KhalessiCrys

The 16GB is not for storage, it's the other thing, SSD or HDD?

Depends what you got, if you have NVME M2 SSD, then maybe another one, but will need a PCIE adapter and may be complicated to install.

For simplicity, I would buy a 2.5" SSD, the amount of space depends on how much he wants, you should have 2 slots inside for them.

So can you list anything SSD or HDD from your specs?

If you don't have a budget problem look more into 2TB or bigger for the drive.

16gb ram is fine. RAM is not storage.

You can purchase a 1-tb 2.5inch SATA-3/600 SSD and install in bottom tray.

I have about 10 games installed, they vary in size but the total is 500GB (half TB), some games are over 100GB (1 tenth of a TB).

If your boy has "a lot" of games and you want "tons" of storage so that he and you are both happy, not sure 1TB will be enough  maybe 2TB or 4TB, all depends on your budget too.

Yeah, game size depends on what type of games you play.  Some are 80 to 100 gigs, others are only 1 or 2 gigs.

@KhalessiCrys

The other thing to consider before you purchase a new storage drive, is that a lot of the Auroras come stock with two drives: (1) a small 500GB to 1TB boot drive; and (2) a larger 1TB to 2TB storage drive.

So if your son already filled up (default) OS boot drive, then he can change the destination of his steam folder or what he uses for games to the second storage drive.  Should save you the money on buying a new drive only to find out you already have one sitting unused.  Check your specs or enter your service tag on Dell's website to see what you have, or open it up and look up front on top of the intake fan.  Or open a folder and click "my computer" to see if there's a second empty drive listed there.
