Aurora R10, can I manually control my fan speed? #2
Hi, I have been using Open Hardware Monitor on my liquid-cooled R10 Ryzen edition and keeping an eye on thermals. I haven't done any mods but I have looked into them quite a bit by now, and I was considering giving the push/pull radiator mod a spin (pun totally intended). However, having used aggressive fan settings in OHM while gaming, I have found that the only way to keep CPU temps under 70-75 degrees Celsius is to rely heavily on the TOP fan to exhaust the hot air out of the case. The stock fan is EXTREMELY loud but also pretty efficient by the looks of it. Would the best mod not be to swap that one (and the case fan too) for an equivalent - or better-but QUIETER one?

I have the Area-51 R4, did you get the Dell control panel app?

Now THAT is VERY interesting. I am not aware of this app. Is it free?

FYI, my first post was a reply to an older thread (hence the borrowed topic name). What I wish to discuss are the pretty high CPU temps on the R10 with stock fans and how to improve them by potentially swapping the stock fans for quieter aftermarket ones, such as the Corsair ml120 pro. What I am trying to figure out is whether those aftermarket fans can push out as much or more air as the stock top fan while running more quiet. Any thoughts?

Now, that's interesting. I haven't seen this app. Is this just for the R10?

Answering the first Query
No as far as Fan speed goes, OEMs like Dell do not have as much customization as most After market motherboards have. My Gigabyte Motherboard can control each fan separately. Where in my XPS and Alienware machines only have performance presets controlled by either Dell power manager or Alienware command center.
An after market fan from a Reputed brand like Noctua will provide much more silent operation in same RPMs. Make a note Fan speed will still be controlled by BIOS based on your performance preset (balanced high-performance)
So all in all airflow would remain the same, only advantage is less noise. another big issue with Alienware Desktops are that in order to get them look better and more compact than competition, available space for experimentation is very less. I would have loved if Dell removes the Front logo and lighting and let us put 2 front facing fans there. .

That looks like the old Alienware Control Center for Aurora R4.
