Aurora R12, no post

Hello guys,

When I power on my Alienware Aurora R12, keyboard and mouse flash for about 2 seconds and then their lights go out. But the RTX 3090 inside the CPU has it's light on. Also, I can hear the CPU fan running. The monitor is completely blank with no signal. What might be the issue? Dell has replaced the motherboard and RAM thrice. After they replace it, they system works for 2-3 days and then again this no post happens. The Dell technicians are clueless. They just replace the motherboard and leave. The system is around 40 days old and has already has it's motherboard replaced thrice. Thank you.

Best regards

No, there are no flashes on the Alienware head (power button). It's a brand new system purchased in September this year, barely 40 days old and has a warranty of 3 years. Yes, I also feel they should look at other things but all they do is replace the motherboard. Is there an escalation mechanism/matrix where I can get senior professional technicians to take a look?

Are there any flashes on the Alienware head (power button)?

Also, I would contact @DELL-Cares to inquire about your warranty status, because changing out a motherboard 3 times in a 40 days old system sounds a bit strange to me.

That is definitely not normal and I think they should look at maybe changing out the power supply, or some other measures.

A UPS is a must with a desktop. The cheapest insurance you can buy to prevent MB and PSU failures. I also think that after 3 MB and RAM replacements the problem lies elsewhere, primarily the PSU. That would be the obvious source of reoccurring problems with those components. To quote "When you eliminate the impossible whatever is left, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.".

Yes, I have contacted @DELL-Cares , let's see what happens.

The points in which the Alienware is connected have inverter power backup. Also, I have been running a laptop on that for years. So, I doubt I require the UPS or that these issues are being caused due to power failures. Would you still suggest a UPS? If so, then please suggest a good one. I couldn't find a UPS powerful enough for a 1000watt PSU, atleast here in India. I also feel something else is the issue. It's unfortunate the basic support guys simply register a motherboard replacement request upon hearing NO POST issue. I wish @DELL-Cares would assign a product specialist or escalate this appropriately so that the exact issue can be figured out. It's frustrating having to lodge service requests every week in such an expensive brand new system.

It's not the power outages that are the most concerning. It is the power spikes or momentary losses of power that can occur. The UPS is designed to protect against that type of problem and those are the kind of issues that can damage electronic components quickly. As far as a UPS that can handle your PSU, have a look at this one. It's output capacity is 1.0 KW. But I would doubt that your system is actually drawing anywhere close to 1000W. However that UPS is not cheap so I would be investigating the actual source of the problems to be certain.

Yes, I understand. I used to think inverter can take care of power spikes as well but I guess UPS does the job much better. Yes, I don't think the system will draw anywhere near 1000 watts even at peak use. The UPS model you suggested is an excellent one., will work just fine. Once I am certain regarding the actual issue, I shall go for that UPS. Thanks.

Guys, Dell claims that it shall not refund/replace my system on account of this not being a direct purchase from Dell. I ordered it via Dell's official website and the order confirmation that I received is from Dell Store. Is Dell Store not a part of Dell? Is it something else like a third party? Please clarify.

A refund is only permitted inside the first 30 days from the original Dell invoice date.

There has to be some confusion here. You state, "The system is around 40 days old".

How could it only be 40 days old if the Dell online tool shows us that this Aurora R12 shipped from Dell on June 13, 2021 to RASHI PERIPHERALS PVT LTD?

* Go here
* Enter your private Aurora R12 Service Tag (Do not post it out here)
* Click Search
* Right of Support Services, click "View details" to see the original ship date

My invoice is dated 02.09.2021. I purchased it from RASHI PERIPHERALS PVT LTD. on 02.09.2021.
