Aurora R12, won't stay powered on

My Aurora R12 won’t power on this morning. When I press the power button, it lights up for a quick second, there is a click inside, and it immediately powers down. It’s on for maybe 2 seconds.

it worked fine last night. Nothing has changed. Cables are secure, I unplugged the tower from the UPS, power cycled the UPS, plugged the tower back in, still won’t power up.

They sent a tech out to me to install a new motherboard.  Everything is working fine now.

My mistake, it’s a motherboard fault.

can you find out any fixes or news about motherboard not working for this model?

Yeah, the clicking issue and shutdown has two possible solutions that have worked for people.  As reported by one person, replacing the motherboard was one solution for the original poster.  As reported by someone else in this thread on 9/18, my solution worked for someone else with the same symptoms (and has for others in the past too).  Looks like there are multiple issues that cause these same symptoms, but the first and easiest step before motherboard replacement would be the suggestion I had on page 1 as it has worked for at least 5 people (not the OP unfortunately).

I am updating this thread to note that there are more than one possible solutions that has generally worked for people with this same issue.  Obviously, a motherboard replacement will clear the issue, but people coming to this thread and looking for the solution might want to try a simple fix first to see if it works for them (it has worked for others with this same issue).

Thank you for the suggestion but since the computer is not turning on at all I am unable to get into any boot options to do any of this

It irritates me that this issue is marked as solved.  It is NOT SOLVED.  I specifically stated that the computer won’t boot and your solution is a video asking me to access the bios.  Not a solution at all for the record.  Support determined my motherboard needs to be replaced- system is only 2 months old.

Try pushing and holding the BIST (built in self-test) button on the back of the power supply.  If you have the 1000W PSU, it should be a black round button next to the green LED.  If you push it and the LED goes solid green, then (while you are still holding the BIST button) push the power button on the front of the PC.

If you have the base config PSU then you won't have the BIST button.

Click the three dots above on the top right corner of the solution.  A drop down menu will appear. Select the option for "not the solution."

Thanks for the “not the solution” tip.

yes, tried that. Test button on back lights up pressed and held while pushing power button, no change. Chat tech had me open case and pull memory, boot with one stick in and then the other. No change.

Yes I tried that.  And plugged in to multiple wall outlets. No error codes. It literally lights up for 1 second…zero boot….

Another thing to try is remove all plugged in devices, including the monitor and keyboard, USB devices, and try a power up directly from an outlet as opposed to plugged into the UPS.

I am assuming the power button (alien head) is not providing any blinking error codes because it is only powered up for a few seconds?

Looks like a faulty power supply.

It's not just you.  This is a bad update that Dell pushed down, and they're acting like they have no idea what's wrong.

This is absolutely NOT a faulty power supply.  This is a bad firmware update that Dell pushed out.
