Aurora R15, Ram upgrade, OC missing in BIOS and AWCC

I recently went from 32GB ram that came with the PC (Kingston Fury Beast 5200 MHz XMP DDR5) and upgraded to Corsair Dominator Platinum 64GB 5200MHz DDR5. It utilizes XMP 3.0.

In AWCC, the OC (overclock) for the ram and XMP Enable is missing.

In BIOS, XMP is disabled and can't be changed.

Am I missing something or is the ram just not compatible to OC on the motherboard? The ram is currently at 4800MHz and no way to overclock.

PC specs:

Aurora R15.

Cryo tech liquid cooling

RTX 4090

i9-13900K

1tb SSD

2tb 980 pro ssd

1350W PSU

Only the original OEM memory is guaranteed to be compatible. Aftermarket support is very limited on these systems.

That is more than likely your problem, as it says at the bottom of that screenshot that XMP is not supported on the current configuration.

You can try using CPU-Z and see what profiles are listed on the RAM modules you are using.

Can you enable the overclock in command center? It won't do XMP but might run at higher speeds.

I tried Kingston 7800. It would boot at 4800. XMP was not available but I could enable memory OC in command center. It failed to boot though, memory error. Had to reset CMOS to get it to boot again at 4800.

Pretty sure it disables memory XMP profiles when the board detects memory it does not like. Once that happens, the AWCC tab will also be gone.

No the weird thing is that it's completely gone in the command center. Like the tab to overclock is gone. Not even shaded out. It's completely missing now.

I went back to stock ram that it came with and the tab is there again. Super weird

Someone posted success with CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM RGB DDR5 7000Mhz:

https://www.dell.com/community/Alienware-Desktops/Aurora-R15-Kingston-Fury-Beast-DDR5-6-000MT-s-compatible/m-p/8326397#M65844

The ram seems to be running at 7000mhz with XMP settings for 5200mhz.

Yea I've seen this! Super weird.

I wonder if the 64gb 5200mhz specific version just doesn't play nice with the motherboard

I had this issue when I flashed the 1.06 BIOS update last week.  The tab went completely missing and XMP was disabled.  Tech support couldn't figure it out at first.  Had to flash back to 1.05 to get the tab back and overclock settings in AWCC.  BIOS still disabled and error message.  Said they were "aware" and working on a fix and to lookout for version 1.07.  The 1.06 update I'm assuming was to address the fan failure errors and while trying to fix that another issue came out.

Has anyone figured out a fix for this? I upgraded my memory to the same…Kingston Fury Beast 5200mhz x64 from x32. I got the same timings, literally everything except the amount, and my XMP and overclocking settings are gone. I have the 1.10 bios. This is absurd Dell hasn’t fixed this issue yet. Perhaps because they charge ridiculous prices for the memory upgrade compared to what you can buy it from the manufacturer for?

I assume Dell has limited the overclock capability for warranty reasons. Dell has some excellent after-sales service, and they don't want to go broke for replacing parts users messed up with crazy overclocking. Think about it. Would you max everything out knowing they would replace anything that was damaged?

Their after-sales service is not good. Their support techs don’t have any answers besides what their “troubleshooting tree” tells them. And upgrading from x32 to x64 and asking for the exact same speed is far from “crazy overclocking…” if you can’t purchase the exact same memory from the exact same manufacturer with the exact same specs…you have a problem. And that problem is proprietary parts with aftermarket appearance sold in machines that are only “upgradable” when purchasing from Dell at 4x the price.

My experience with them was incredible. I’ve used some of their services in two different countries with the device and hardware bought from the US. When you buy computers from Dell, you’re covered internationally. I had technicians sent to my hotel to replace parts while I was traveling. Total peace of mind.

To them, it won’t matter if you’re doing 4800 or 8000 Mhz, as they have no control and certainty over the quality of the aftermarket components.

I have an R15 with dominator ram and my xmp is also disabled. I’m days away from the return cutoff. I’m really debating if I should return it.

Even if you could get the XMP to work in the BIOS, the maximum speed would be 5200. There isn't really much of a difference between 4800 and 5200. It's better to use AWCC to pump up your RAM. I got 7000 MHz on mine.
