Aurora R4, CPU options

Just put the 'used' i7-4960X in.......and....won't post. :(

Remind me why I tried buying used again...lol.

Any chance we could start a photo parade of the classic Alienware machines???  Post your pics . . . good, bad, and ugly!

I tried but even after putting in the original CPU, no post.

Well...I guess that's the end of this R4.

Can't get it to post......removed the battery, reset cmos......removed all but one mem module.

Nothing seems to be helping.

I'll fiddle with it for a couple days and see if I can't revive her.

I really am tempted to just ditch the R4 and just hobble together this stuff instead.

I might like AW but this combo is just better:

@Element115s4​   if you are buying a new mobo and case, you might as well jump the light speed and get something more modern rather than locking yourself into X79 and DDR3.  Core P3 does not offer much radiator space.

Yes...that's the rub, just how much more $$$ does it become not worth it.

I have the CPU, the Mem and a PS already.

I am also tempted to get an AW R16 when they get a K proc option (I sure hope they do).

So many choices so we shall see but not giving up on the R4.

I sure hope I didn't kill the board. 

I really don't think I did anything that could have caused any damage but it sure seems like I sent the R4 to an early grave. :(
