Are you sure cpu socket pins were not bent?  Use a magnifying glass to take a close look at the LGA2011.  If all good then I suggest you stay w the old cpu until no post issue is solved because that was a working cpu verified by yourself.  
some items to test: install a new CMOs battery after removing current one for 10 min to overnight.   reset CMOs jumper on motherboard if not already done. get a different verified working psu and a simple video card that does not have power connector.

I just double checked to verify all pins look good. One looked a little off, I corrected it, same outcome. 

I'll try the new CMOS battery next. I'll have to borrow another PSU and video card from a friend to try.

Not going to repeat everything or list the obvious (since you seem to know what you are doing).

See if it will post with original CPU and one video card (at least one should be good).

If not ... well, motherboard is old. My guess it that it got damaged during upgrades or was already flaking-out.
