Aurora R4, which AWCC for Windows 10?

I recently wiped my drive on my Aurora R4 PC. After installing Windows 10 Home, I went to the Dell website to look for the latest AWCC (Alienware Command Center) but couldn't find one compatible with Windows 10. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I think the last version of AWCC for an Aurora-R4 running Windows-10 (64 bit) is v 3.6.5.0.

BTW, it does say compatible with Windows-10.

Thanks Tesla!

I downloaded and installed the  Macrium Reflect 7. I created a bootable USB Flash drive. Guess what? I tested it and it worked flawlessly! It booted right into the UEFI USB no problem. Now it's looking for the backup image file, which I am creating now. You have made me a "happy camper"

Just an additional response to Tesla's

When you go to dell support, try entering your AW system tag and from there all the downloads and drivers are usually listed.

Thank you for helping with my AWCC issue. I did download and installed the latest version. So far, no lights and I can't seem to see if my CPU pump is active. This worries me as this is installed on a system running a fresh install of Windows 10 Home.

Could it be that I need to activate something? Perhaps there is a setup procedure? I didn't notice one in the manual for the R4. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Ok, so, I attempted to open AWCC and the attached photo is what I see. I can't click "OK", nor can I close AWCC. It was necessary to use task manager to do so. What is the problem here? Does anyone know? AWCC Error that won't closeAWCC Error that won't close

Is this screenshot some version you found, or the one I linked you too?

Clean-install the version I linked you to. After you reboot:
- See what version it says it is
- See it if works.

If it does not work, try the alternate version that @speedstep  linked you to (on that same page). Looks like you need to un-block and un-zip that one before installing. Then:
- See what version it says it is
- See it if works.

Report back. Keep good notes, answer questions, and read our posts carefully.

If you are missing an older (but required) version of Dot-Net, it should prompt you to install the missing version. However, it might not. Did it prompt you or have an install-issue?

Not many users on here have Aurora-R4 any more. I own/use an Aurora-R6 and Aurora-R1 .

Hi speedstep,

can you please explain what the difference is between this file link and the one that Tesla provided previously?

If I must uninstall the one I have, I need to find the post that shows how best to do so. Some people have said to Disconnect the USB/MIO cable from the FX board first. I just can't understand why this has to be so difficult!

Tesla, The photo shown is after the installation of the file you linked to me. It was a clean install seeing as I had completely wiped the drive and installed a fresh version of Windows 10. There was no AWCC installed prior to the one you recommended.

So, now, I am assuming you want me to uninstall that version, and attempt to install speedster's version?

'No instance of an object' error tends to mean the double-ended USB2.0 cable isn't plugged into a motherboard 2.0 header, the MIO's 2.0 header, or both.

===============

That would be cool if it was just a dirty/flakey connection at either end of the cable.

I suppose the fix would be ... Shut-down, un-plug from wall, dissipate flea-power, get a flash-light ... and CAREFULLY un-plug and re-seat the comm cable at both ends.

1. Good. So, inside the program ... Update screen , what version does it say it is?

2. Perfect

3. Yes. I sent you to a page. Since that version didn't work, we thought maybe the file packaged the other way might work better.

1. Maybe Dell messed-up the downloads or one is corrupt.

2. Uninstall, reboot, install next one.

3. No. While that might be required eventually ... that was normally for just for older machines, older MIO-Boards/firmwares, older AW-CC, and I think even Windows-7.

'No instance of an object' error tends to mean the double-ended USB2.0 cable isn't plugged into a motherboard 2.0 header, the MIO's 2.0 header, or both. MIO board needs plugged in so it can communicate w/motherboard/HDD/CmndCntr app etc, try plugging it in if it isn't & re-launch AWCC

Unplugging the 2.0 connector was a step taken during a new/clean Windows7 install, & plug it back in after the install & 1st shutdown etc

Well, that looks like the right version, but why does AW-CC think your Aurora-R4 is an Area-51

Did you buy this machine new?

Did you swap the MIO-Board during it's lifetime?
