Aurora R4, will this power supply work?
My 2012 computer originally had (x2) AMD Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition video cards in Crossfire and I replaced those two with a Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT. I'm considering doing another video card upgrade with something more powerful or possibly two video cards. The power supply that I have in my Alienware Aurora R4 is the H875EF-00 and I'm wanting to upgrade the power supply to something more powerful. What would be a good upgrade and still be compatible with my wiring harness? Would the Dell H1100EF-00 power supply be compatible with my wiring harness? Will I have to change the wiring harness? Any help would be appreciated. Thank You!!
Best Regards,
James

You're welcome. J556T & W299G are the classic R1-R4 part #'s, u can check used prices for going rates but after the ~15% seller fee & ship cost suggests sellers don't recoup much after sale ($40 sale nets $20 or less?) & so no harm in holding yours back as a known-good working spare as a trouble-shooting part if needed
Dell doesn't skimp on fans, they're quality name hi-amp hi-powa types whose drawback is ... noise. I've never made fan recommendations since the market floods year-by-year but u can try to upgrade, where a good one may even be equal or better but quieter, basically google a fan 'roundup review', see what all's out there
Asetek made all aliencoolers the past 15years (exception is the R15 AMD 240mm by CoolerMaster 240mm). The OEM Aurora R1-R4 cooler is a base entry-level budget 120x27mm wide radiator w/ aluminum coldplate, Area-51 R1 got the same cooler but w/ the better copper coldplate. 01YGW 'Premium' is a 38mm rad + copper, so wider & in their then-new Gen4 pump design. Here I went from 01YGW, to a 49mm Asetek 570LC, then to the TFGHM / HR6V4 A51 ThreadRipper 49mm
I'm running 'top fans', 100mm x 12mm (15mm wide may still fit), mine are held by zipties, using a y-split fan cable running off the old whimpy top 'memory' fan header, so full speed fans up there as intakes blowing down & in
There are ways to do front fans in the DVD area if u shop around for something
Size matters? 'All things being equal, does a wider rad = better' ... 'yes but there are exceptions to the rule', so 'no maybe sometimes' also seem good answers, but, wider should represent an upgrade over Aurora's entry-level budget cooler. For instance, & I don't know if they fit or not due to the tube design, but even the R5 MH0HN type w/ a 30mm rad could would should be a cooling upgrade, on paper, right? Below, Kane installed 01YGW into his R4, & we'd 'just know' this is an upgrade over the stock A51 27mm K31VH aliencooler (yes he should've oriented the tubes down, not up). For even better cooling he'd move to the TRip 49mm rad
Aurora A51 use a 120x38mm fan, typically Delta or Nidec 1.4-1.5Amp, server-grade, hi-powa hi-CFM + noise. You'd re-use your 38mm fan. Or? Substitute w/ a good 32mm or slim 25mm type. When possible (depending on left-bank memory height) u can try a 25mm pair in push-pull. Mine's cooled by just a 1Amp 25mm Everflow
*Some cooler widths &/or memory heights may force the use of a single 25mm wide fan, if so, choose a good hi-powa hi-cfm lo-noise type; if blowing THROUGH a radiator, consider models w/ a hi static pressure rating as well
Therefore, it should suffice that the R4 'Premium' cooler is better than a stock budget cooler due to copper base, 1.4x wider rad & revised pump design. When possible, choose a pair of 25mm cooling fans in push-pull as ideal. Jump to 49mm rads (TRip, Corsair H80i V2 types etc) if needed, wanted. I hope this helps

So I managed to pull this fan from the PCI area and it’s connected to the 4-pin FAN_PCI connector on the control board towards the front of my Aurora R4 Standard computer. I was able to remove the fan from it’s harness and I got a really good picture of it’s model number. I was able to look up the fans specs so I know exactly what to look for in its upgrade. This fan is Nidec M35556-35DEL12F DC 12V 1.0A 1.10A Max 92mm x 92mm x 38mm Server Cooling Fan.
The replacement fan will be more efficient providing faster RPM and more CFM airflow fitting perfectly in the harness. I will secure the new fan back in place with four 6.3mm diameter by 14.5mm length Euro screws with deep thread design. I’m going to drill holes in the corners of the new fan to 5.6mm to secure it back into harness.
Alienware CPU AIO Liquid Cooler Radiator
I found out that this model of Nidec fan is actually the fan at the back of my computer that’s part of my Alienware CPU AIO Liquid Cooler Radiator.

Nidec B35502-35DEL7 PP749-A00 12V 1.40A 120mm x 120mm x 38mm with the 4-pin connector that’s connected to the SYS_FAN connector on the power header.

@user_3fa20f --> part # 0J556T or 0W299G
Any ATX power supply can fit & work in Aurora R1-R4 (850w - 1000w) but the old case harness needs to be removed 1st
