Aurora R5, CPU not compatible Windows 11
Hi,
following my configuration:
Alienware Aurora R5 Base
D00AWR522
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K Processor (4-Cores, 8MB Cache, Turbo Boost 2.0, Overclocked up to 4.2GHz on all four cores)
850W PSU Liquid Cooled Chassis
32GB Quad Channel DDR4 2133MHz (8GB x 4)
512GB PCIe SSD (Boot) + 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s (Storage)
8x DVD+/-RW 9.5mm ODD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition with 8GB GDDR5X
Intel 3165AC + BT4.2 [802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.2, Dual Band 2.4&5 GHz, 1x1]
I tested it with the Microsoft PC Health Check and it resulted not compatible with Windows 11 because of the processor.
This is the message I got: The processor isn't currently supported for Windows 11. Processor Intel Core i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz
My question is: can I upgrade the processor? What processor should I install, makes my Aurora R5 compatible with Windows 11?
Thank you
fireberd

This model, like thousands of other PC's, can't be upgraded to a Win 11 compatible CPU.
This model is a Z170 chipset motherboard and a 7th gen CPU is maximum. Microsoft Win 11 minimum Intel CPU requirement is an 8th gen.

There's a script to bypass windows 11 requirement and upgrade to windows 11 from windows 10 if that is what you wish to do. Otherwise no you can't upgrade to a officially supported cpu

That's a really nice machine and config.
Pretty lame Microsoft.
And after reading how they went back and white-listed a few Intel 7th gen and AMD Ryzen processors ... I wonder if they are just getting bad data from the beta-testers. Maybe flakey Over-Clocked machines or retail machines kinda messed-up with all those Spectre & Meltdown BIOS updates.
