Aurora R5, remove bottom PSU latch?

Hey there,

I currently have a 1070 FE GPU in my Alienware Aurora R5. I want to put in a 3070 but when testing to see if it would fit, the bottom triangle apart of the bottom PSU latch blocks the case from closing. As far as i can see, the latch does nothing other than cover a part of the back of the PC. Is it possible to remove this?

The people who have removed it used wire snips.

I think that photo came from this person's post here:  https://www.dell.com/community/Alienware-Desktops/Aurora-R8-EVGA-Geforce-RTX-3090-install-results/m-p/7747194

Another person who removed it here:

I removed this triangle as well because i noticed this element can get very hot. Using tin snip was perfect advice. Temps are down in idle by 1 degree.

Some people have removed it,  but you have to be careful about metal chips getting on the motherboard / psu / gpu and causing a short. The other thing is decreased stability after removing the support bracket.

@Anonymous How were you able to remove the piece? Do any of the bolts there unscrew it or did you have to use power tools?
