Aurora R7, 850w power supply cables?

I should mention that the case is an Aurora R5 case, the motherboard is an Aurora R7 VDT73 and the power supply is an Aurora R5 850w D850EF-00 D1J02

Right. Since that is a Dell power-supply you should use the matching Dell cables.

IIRC, there was a post here somewhere, with pics and part-numbers of all the different modular cables.

Nothing particularly special about the cables EXCEPT the special flat 6 pin mini sata power for the Optical Drive.

Most PSU's DO NOT HAVE that.  So you need to buy an adapter.

Aurora R5 R6 share the AREA51-R2 power supply but get their own unique cable set   R5 R6 works with  Delta   850w
Since this is modular IT DOES NOT COME WITH CABLES.

You cant transfer cables from the 460w because they aren't removable.

So is it possible to use non Dell cables as long as the pins on both ends are the same?

No, the wiring could be different even if the plug to the psu and the other end are the same. 

The wiring on the modular connectors plugging in to the back of the psu is not universal.
