Aurora R7, CPU cooler

Hi, the stock cpu fan on my alienware r7 (OVDT73 mobo) i7-8700 is getting very loud so I'm looking at a change, and alienware having their own motherboards I'm not sure if it also uses it's own mounting pattern, planning on buying a Noctua NH-L12S fan, it has the mounting for LGA115x LGA2011 LGA2066 so I'm assuming one of those will surely work on an alienware motherboard

No I believe it uses standard LGA1151 mounting hole spacing.  Yes the aftermarket AIO will work well with Alien motherboard.

Yea there are a number of potential issues that immediately jump out at me: 1 height, hit the psu, no airflow to fan 2. Width, cover ram, hit vrm, 3. The pwm fan will 95% chance throw a startup error 4. Standard 75mm spacing but no idea if thread is the same, some air coolers use half threaded screws from behind which will require removing the motherboard to remove or drill the backplate.  Suggest looking into the above.

Yeah, that looks like it would fit OK.  Note though it has only partially screwed attachment bolts, in reference to my earlier comment #4, you would just need to remove the motherboard and the attached oem backplate in order to install it, and on #3, if the pwm fan throws an error at startup, you can pull out the sense wire from the fan cable to bypass that error (otherwise you're stuck with a 3 min test every time you boot and no bypass option).

I don't want to add water cooling, dont even think I have a decent place to put the fan, and considering I'm in the process of a new build ite even more not worth it. https://www.amazon.ca/Noctua-Low-Profile-Cooler-Retail-Cooling/dp/B009VCAJ7W/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=Noctua+NH-L9i%2C+Premium+Low-Profile+CPU+Cooler+for+Intel+LGA&qid=1588294966&sr=8-1

This is what I'm planning on replacing the stock intel cooler with. It should be close enough to the same dimensions if not smaller

An H60 or H55 AIO might be a cheaper and easier to install option than an air cooler.  Not sure what the prices are where you are though.
