Aurora R7, how to turn off case lights without AWCC?

Alienware Aurora R7

Alienware Aurora R7

I can't get AWCC (Alienware Command Center) to work. This is probably because I am running the non-supported Windows 11 Home and the AWCC doesn't work for me with this version of Windows. If you can solve that then great!

I want to know if I can use the BIOS or some other method to disable the lights on my case? I want them to be off and stay off. I would prefer being able to turn them on and off, but if I had to choose one or the other I would choose off.

When AWCC tries to update itself, it just freezes and nothing happens.

Not aware of any other software that works with the controller Dell uses.

I guess if you want them off the whole time, an option would be to unplug the power to them.

Can you show me a picture where on the motherboard the power for the lights connects?

I had an R7 and the lights broke because the 4 pin connecter on the PC that connects to the 4 pins on left hand side panel broke in two. From memory to get that cable out from where it was connected to the motherboard was not worth the hassle. You virtually had to tear the whole PC apart to get at it. The major obstacle was you had to take the top off the PC, the R7 manual says it can be done but it is not quite as easy as Dell make out and easy to break other things in the process.

If you don't want the lights at all i guess just tape up the 4 pins on the left hand side panal so they do not connect.

Should be the white connector, # 17 on this picture: LED controller

Instructions on how to work inside your computer and how to remove the side panel are all available in the service manual, with pictures.

The only thing that might happen, is that the motherboard might throw an error during boot up complaining about the LED controller not being connected to the LED's. You will have to see if it does that or not.

Instead of using the big bloatware AWCC, go inside AWCC program file folder under C drive, search for a small program tool called AlienFXtester.exe.  Even though AWCC is having error w your OS, the tester is a small enough tool that may still work.  If so, use that to turn off all LED.

I don't have the AlienFXtester.exe in the Alienware Command Center folder.  Dell's website tries to force me into service tags and videos and I can't find a directory of the available downloads.  Could someone help me find the URL with the AleinFXtester.exe so I can install just that package and try and control these lights?

Windows 11 is not supported on an R7, so the best you have is Windows 10 drivers.

Dell driver site does not require service tags to get to the driver page. It just uses it to ensure you are getting the right drivers for your hardware.

Drivers R7  Just click on "find drivers" next to "Manually find a specific driver for your Alienware Aurora R7"
