Aurora R7, i7-9700K, compatible? #3
I just want to confirm that the i7 9700k will work in Alienware aurora r7. Currently have a i5 8400. And h75 for cooling. If It does work all I need to do is apply thermal paste and put cpu cooler back on correct?? Do i need to install any drivers or anything? Thanks for the help

It will not work. Sorry, R7 supports only up to 8th Gen CPU.

I thought if I update the bios it will work?

That's correct, the problem is Dell released the R8 (i.e., an R7 + updated bios) in lieu of providing the BIOS update to the R7. You and I missed that cutoff date, unfortunately.

Ok thanks so much I guess I will just resell my 9700k and buy an 8700k
