Depend on what update sourge you get..through dell website, Support assist or a stand alone alienware update,or what windows insiders you use. go alienware update v 4.3.0, check you have the latest firmware from microsoft 0.1.4.0

I had this problem when an update failed. It resets to disabled no matter what.

I would suggest to repair/reset/uninstall in the window settings/apps//apps and feature/alienware update program. You could use windows system restore to go back earlier

If the service is disabled it could affect other programs.

Try a command prompt in admin mode, and use the following command to auto start the service at boot time:

sc config servicename start= auto

You will need to get the exact service name from the actual filename for the service. It's listed in the path to the service under the main service tab.

sc config servicename start= auto

 Did not help in my case. It is possible to manually start the service (ServiceShell.exe) but it will disable the next time usage or reboot etc. It looks like a safety feature when an installer is running to stop any background installs etc. I think the poster is in the same situation.

To be technical it would be a registry settings like:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\DellClientManagementService]

or possibly

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\FirstBoot\Services\DellClientManagementService]
"ServiceName"="DellClientManagementService"

Not knowing the skill of the poster, the simpliest is to repair or reset.

Hi @Memphoman  welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

Within Services, DellClientManagementService, Properties, there is Recovery tab. Does your recovery options give default recovery settings similar to image, or have they been changed?
