Aurora R8, Liquid CPU Cooling, Error 0512

So I just recently upgraded my processor from an i5-9400 to an i7-9700k on my Aurora R8 and in doing so I had to upgrade my cooling unit because the standard one wouldn’t be able to handle the new processor. So I got the Corsair H60 liquid cooling unit and I install it into my pc and everything fits, it’s plugged in and it’s great. I go to turn on my PC and I get an Alienware supportassist screen saying it’s testing my hardware and it stops at the cpu fan test. Then it shows me a QR code and saying my hardware might have a problem because the fan isn’t working. I looked up many tutorials on how to install the liquid cooling unit and I know I did it right. Someone please help me

Why not just use the Aurora's "top fan" instead of the radiator fan supplied with the Corsair unit.

Yeah that works too.  I've even seen some people get lazy and just swap the cables to the top and front fan headers without swapping the fans to bypass the error.  But the default sensors are different (cpu vs drive) so the fans should be physically swapped like you mentioned (not just the cables) as there's no way to change the default in bios outside of windows.

Well that could be part of the problem.  If you follow the instructions the pc will error even with a compatible fan.  The instructions say to plug the pump into the cpu fan header which is incorrect for this motherboard.

Some bios revsions will actually support the oem sp120l corsair fan in the top fan header (it worked fine in my pc but I got rid of it for other reasons).  As many users have reported on this forum most will not.

@Anonymous

"magnetic levitation is much more quiet than last century's ball bearing technology."

Random aside, but my nephews just got a Lenovo Legion i5 for Christmas (it's comparable to the Dell G5 Gaming Desktop). It comes with 3x AVC 120mm ball bearing case fans.  The fans aren't as powerful as the Alienware AVC case fans, but they have been much quieter too.  Of course, I doubt they would let me peel them off steam long enough to really stress test their new pc.
