Aurora R8, yellow flashing light when in sleep mode?

So I've been searching all around and can't seem to find out if you can toggle this off. When I put my desktop in sleep mode the alien head pulses yellow on and off until the PC is woke up from sleep. I don't think it's too much to ask for that when the thing is asleep I want all the lights off and not the obnoxious yellow light flashing. Anyone know something I don't? I appreciate any help, I've checked around alienFx but can't find anything for setting colors for sleep mode etc..

Thanks for the info, I have seen that thread but there is no option I can find in AlienFX for editing sleep mode colors. I noticed the thread was from back in 2011 so I'm sure some things have changed.

Any idea on where to change these options for sleep mode colors?

Changing sleep mode colors, even on an R7 doesn't exist in AWCC.  Only option is to create a macro of sorts to force the system into dark mode right before sleep.

Personally the glowing alien head doesn't bother me.  My Mac Pro does the same thing when it sleeps; the power light on the front of the tower will glow alternating between dim and bright.

Posted to a similar thread last week:

First part being the macro method.

Personally the glowing alien head doesn't bother me too because I shut off my R8 when I get some shut-eye.

@GTS81I'm glad you posted that link above.  I was actually looking for that very post of yours but couldn't find it.

On my R7, if I select the color black for the alien head (zone 1) then it is permanently unlit and doesn't glow.  So there may be a way if you play with the advanced settings to trigger that "black" color setting only for standby.  My PC is in a separate room where the pulsing head doesn't bother anyone so I haven't bothered to play with the settings.

it's very annoying lighting up the bedroom at night

The easiest fix is to create a shortcut sleep button or more accurate a hibernate shortcut button

right click screen create shortcut and fill in

target:

C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState

start in:

C:\Windows\System32

change icon to whatever you want

To wake just tap power button

the difference in wake time is 3 or 4 seconds more for hibernate

you can still sleep from windows power icon for daytime use

There's been nary a pulse on the Alienware lineup in 2020 except for that CES Alien-Switch.
