Aurora R9, Overclock vs. Ram Frequency

Hello everyone!

(Not a pro here. Just learned a bit about hardware in the last few days.)

I have been using an Aurora R9 desktop for two years now, with no issue. I've kept the Overclock2 option consistently (from the Alienware Command Center), all good. Things got more complicated today, as I boosted my RAM from 16GB to a Fury 64GB (4x16 DDR4 3200 MHz). The memory is working fine, but it reads at 2400 MHz. I went into the bios and toggled Xmp2 and got to 3000MHz...all good! But things went downhill when I tried to activate OC again from the Command Center. OC1 was fine, but it would keep my RAM at 2400 (bios Xmp options deactivated). So I tried OC2...and I couldn't get the computer to turn on : four yellow flashes. Followed tips on the forums, got it to work again, tried all combinations (including AWCC on OC1 + RAM2) and everything crashes my system, sometimes forcing me to open the desktop to take out the coin battery. My best combination at this point is Xmp2 + OC1 from the bios (doesn't show on AWCC).

So, my question: should I turn on the OC1 on AWCC and leave the RAM at 2400, or should I keep the RAM at 3000 with only the Bios OC (whatever that is...)? What will give me better performance? I mostly play games like Warhammer Total War and other grand strategy, some shooters.

Thanks!

Galynea
