AW2720HF, blinking standby light

I've lived with this blinking standby light for too long with no way to stop it. It has to be stopped. The person who put this in the project really thought. So if I can't find a simple fix to flash the monitor firmware I'll be disassembling this thing to kill that bright white LED behind the power button.

If anyone has hacked the monitor or knows how to disable it I'd appreciate it. I will not buy another Dell computer or monitor after I got this Alienware. It has served well enough since I've had it now a few years. Hope someone at Dell reads this and changes what they're thinking.
