AW2725DF, DSC toggle, firmware update?

AW2725DF, DSC toggle at some point implemented through a firmware update? The MSI version of this monitor, using the same panel semi-recently pushed a firmware update that allowed users to disable DSC on the monitor.

You cannot do that on this monitor. I am aware doing so would increase bandwidth and probably limit the monitor to under 360Hz refresh rate at native resolution. However, there are lots of bugs on Nvidia and AMD systems with DSC enabled, and annoying things like extremely long alt tabs. Not to mention, you cannot create custom resolutions on monitors with forced DSC. Not to mention, lots of capture cards don't work with this monitor, AND you cannot do anything with DSR on nvidia cards. Would be awesome to see this implemented.

As I stated in other AW2725DF DSC threads =

We Social Media agents are not in day to day Alienware platform meetings. All we can do is show via email the Alienware platform team the threads, number of users, number of replies, etc. Like you, all we can do is periodically check the online AW2725DF Drivers & Downloads to see if a new firmware is released.

I never stated, "is being developed". I said, "Like you, all we can do is periodically check the online AW2725DF Drivers & Downloads to see if a new firmware is released."

I pulled the trigger on this monitor but just read this post.. I also own a 2021 Lenovo 1440p 240hz that doesn't have this issues. I can tell you right now, if this doesn't get patched I'm sending my monitor back without a doubt. Also I convinced my friend to buy one for Prime Day and he will be sending his back as well..

And now I am reading you guys have a FAKE HDMI 2.1 port on this thing??? LIKE HELLOO?? It doesn't even allow for the full bandwidth of 48Gbps... Yikesssss.... Locks people to 144hz???? Bruh.. MSI on their 1440p 360hz offers HDMI 2.1 at 360hz.. Looks like Dell/Alienware are just trying to con and lie about their products.. This is insane.. GG guys..

Well since it's been about 3 months since last update so not THAT long but yeah I agree this stinks. Hopefully they'll keep their word and release the update eventually. I'd love to try DLDSR.

I bought the AW2725DF from the recent sale. After doing more research, I learned that competitors offer full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth and DSC adjustment. As shared from the other sentiments on this post, this has seriously made me consider my purchase and upgrade to a competing unit. Dell please provide a transparent verdict and timeline.

I heard that we was getting a DSC toggle a few months ago I was hoping it was ready by now.

I'm not mad I'm just disappointed.

I've been gaming mostly on my S90C anyway I'm thinking of getting rid of this 27-in and go for a 4k 32-in maybe MSI.

This is sad... I love Alienware and they do make quality products.. But the buck doesn't stop there.. There is so much feedback on this not only here on their forums but other forums, reddit, YouTube etc.. The same panel is used by other vendors and offer true HDMI 2.1 and a OSD option to disable DSC..

Dell Forum Team, please get the feedback to the firmware devs..

Also, I might add these post are super harsh because Dell / Alienware should be held to a higher standard.. This isnt a new company nor are you guys new to making gaming hardware.. Misleading your customer base with false advertising on HDMI 2.1. I hope this makes a difference, but I have a feeling it most likely wont.. Bump.

@exodus1337

You are absolutely correct Dell is a gigantic company and it's unacceptable for them to be this lazy, or you could say ignorant. To me it feels as if whomever is in charge of Alienware brand is either far to detached to from society to understand how internet and marketing works in 2024, or just simply doesn't give a single <Profanity is never allowed on our Forum. DELL-Admin> about Alienware's image or anything and prefers to sit in the office talking to phone all day. Either way it's the management or that Dell, one of the worlds largest technology giants, is just stretched too thin and too few to afford more employees. I mean since this thread got created, even more AW2725DF competitors appeared and arguably nearly all of them offer better brightness and features all for the same price as well. Every other 1440p 27" oled also has DSC toggle too.

Just remember the saying: the grass is always greener on the other side.

One feature Alienware does really well is no-nonsense panel warranty of 3 years on select products when purchased directly from Dell. They exchanged my OLED monitor 3 times over a time span of 1.5 years, without blinking an eye and sending the replacement over first without needing the original monitor back first. They were in no rush to have me send them back either.

Your mileage with other manufacturers might vary on that. Panel warranty is very important on OLED monitors because they are prone to burn-in. So choose your monitor wisely...

any updates on the new firmware i don't mind if it takes time as long as its coming and some transparency on when, a fix to the 2.2 gamma blacks being a bit uplifted and this is the perfect monitor.
