One other point to keep in mind, when Nvidia released Gsync compatible with LG, they only did so with the latest gen cards: turing, so it's possible to expect something similiar with AMD.
No, it's the reverse. Some AMD freesync monitors will work as g-sync compatible if the pc has a recent driver update for the nvidia gpu.
Also some nonfreesync LG OLED tvs will work with gsync compatible with a firmware update for the tv.
For the reverse, Nvidia plans in the future to allow some G-sync monitors, with a firmware update, to run with AMD cards, but at this point that rumor I don't believe has even officially been announced by Nvidia.

ok, thanks for the clarification... so no AW3420 for me untill this freesync/gsync amd/nvidia nonsense is gone for good.
