AW3420DW, work with AMD FreeSync?
I am thinking about buying the new Alienware AW3420DW but not especially thrilled with the idea of also buying a Nvidia card. I have read that some monitors with G-Sync will be able to "sync" with AMD cards provided they get the proper firmware update. Will the Alienware AW3420DW be one of these monitors?

One other point to keep in mind, when Nvidia released Gsync compatible with LG, they only did so with the latest gen cards: turing, so it's possible to expect something similiar with AMD.

No, it's the reverse. Some AMD freesync monitors will work as g-sync compatible if the pc has a recent driver update for the nvidia gpu.
Also some nonfreesync LG OLED tvs will work with gsync compatible with a firmware update for the tv.
For the reverse, Nvidia plans in the future to allow some G-sync monitors, with a firmware update, to run with AMD cards, but at this point that rumor I don't believe has even officially been announced by Nvidia.

ok, thanks for the clarification... so no AW3420 for me untill this freesync/gsync amd/nvidia nonsense is gone for good.
