Future Upgrades

I was told if i wanted to upgrade my power supply I would have to go through 3rd party methods by the team. Good to know that if you do that you are own from that point on. They could have said that in the beginning. They will not help you anymore once you do.

Basically, Dell does not provide computer upgrade services. Therefore, there is no specific group or department that have trained employee to assist a future upgrade questions to an existing product.
When you contact Sales, your questions must be relating to placing an order instead of asking technical question that they don't know. When you contact Technical support, you must ask question related to a technical issue instead of question about products, parts you want to purchase.
When you post here on community forum, provide your system information and specific question, issue that you need help with. There also are many valuable suggestions for Alienware desktop power supply have been provided, they can be obtained at your fingertips with a quick search.

Our users could provide more help if you told them what specific Alienware Desktop model you have there. What wattage is the current PSU? Do you have issues with the current PSU?

@DELL-Chris M I don't need help anymore. I have an Alienware aurora R14. I upgraded to a 1000w power supply using the same dell brand. One of the fans had stopped working and was looking for a replacement psu or a replacement power supply fan instead of having to spend $200 for a whole new one. I will have to go 3rd party like the suggested the 1st time. My complaint is they could have warned me about what would happen if I do when they were telling me to do it. But they didn't.

@Chino de Oro oh if you look on their website they do provide computer upgrades. Depending on the parts you need. If you look on their website you can see now they are selling 1000w power supplies. But apparently they weren't before when trying to inquire the 1st time. And could have warned me that I would be on my own after suggesting 3rd party methods.

Those online parts and accessories are intended for CRU, customers replaceable unit. Some components are designed for easy removal and replacement; such parts are designated as Customer Self-Replaceable (CSR) parts or Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU). Along with the system service manual, customers have options to purchase CRU components listed on website. Need help with placing order, customers can contact Sales or Spare Parts.
Some components are not available for sale on website, they are designated for warranty replacement only. When a Dell technician diagnoses that a CSR or CRU designated part is required, Dell ships the recommended part directly to the customer. This allows customers to swap out parts whenever it is most convenient for them.
Whichever the case, you have replied that your post was intended as a complaint for the interaction you received, you do not need assistance from the community.

@Niko Hakubi what 1000 watt power supply did you install? Is it "the same dell brand" or is it a 3rd party PSU?

@Niko Hakubi then I think you should be able to get tech support from Dell. You sourced a Dell OEM power supply elsewhere because they had none in stock.
Regardless, it may be a blessing in disguise as Dell tech support can be whack . . . in my opinion, you will get better tech support from this user Community.

@ProfessorW00d you would think. But they won't do anything about it. They basically said since it wasn't shipped with the PC. They won't do anything to help me further with it even tho they told me to go a 3rd party route to find one. I'll just have to look on ebay for a replacement power supply fan.

@Niko Hakubi OK, I guess I misunderstood. I thought you already got a Dell replacement PSU from a 3rd party vendor. Or is it the Dell replacement PSU that has the bad fan?
I would not recommend opening up your power supply to replace the fan, unless you have the appropriate knowledge and skill set. It would be better to just replace the power supply. If it is the replacement PSU that has the bad fan, reach out to the 3rd party vendor for a replacement PSU.

@ProfessorW00d yes I did get the 1000w power supply originally from a 3rd party vendor. The picture is the PSU that I bought to replace the one that came with the PC. It has 2 fans inside the system with only the left fan operating while the right one isn't working. Buying a psu from Dell isn't the best option since that would be $200 to replace this one. I see the fans are $12 dollars on ebay. It would be better financially to try and attempt to fix it myself.
