Let down by Alienware
I really felt like this was worth a share. More than once ive been let down by alienware, The terrible m.2 ssd options they stuff in a system that test out slower than a old school hdd, the bonus or points to buy perifials that just never show up or when they finnaly slip them in 6 months later when your not hovering over your account ( it was never sent to email) they expire and you cant use them. ive had 4 laptops over the years and I really kept fooling myself saying its different now, I gave Dell /alienware a chance with the area 51m , it was supposed to be the most upgradable laptop ever, .... when i got it in 2019 i got the highest features they offfered and today in 2021 there is not one single upgrade available for it, dell has come out and said they wont add any more upgrades and it is what it is. I spent nearly 4k in early adoption and support for this new style of platform. I only ask that if your spending your money that you dont let them fool you and ignore the false advertising, in the end an alienware laptop or desktop iust a polished dell workcenter computer and for half the money you can build your own desktop that is actually faster and more reliable. when i called in yesterday to attempt to resolve this the tech support continually claimed i needed to purchase a renewed service contract with them as if that was going to fix the fact that dell does not offer any upgrades for my unit. I gave them the chance before. I spent over 3 hours being bounced around to do anything other than add my name to the list. I can also proudly say i purchased a new computer yesterday and I will no longer have to deal with dell.

I am thinking when it comes to pre-build desktops you will have to take the good with the bad. When it comes to laptops, you are at the mercy of the OEM. I am not aware of any realistic way to make your own from individual components.
I have both desktops and laptops from Dell, Alienware and "regular".
I do believe Alienware as a brand needs to pull it socks up as to speak, and come out with some better component selection geared more towards those who don't mind paying a premium to receive higher than average hardware.
Right now they seem to aim at almost everyone, and I am personally not impressed with their motherboard selection and I think that's a weak point in the Alienware systems. If they would address that, and redesign that case for better airflow and 240 AIO cooling solutions, they would be a big step ahead over their non-Alienware offerings.
Right now I believe the Alienware systems do not enough to differentiate themselves from various other systems out there.

"Framework upgradeable laptop" makes all of the arguments from OEM's obsolete.
Apple, HP, Dell, Lenovo, Asus. Acer, Sony, Toshiba, etc say its too hard to make upgradeable, repairable, thin light performance laptop. This is now moot because its been proven to be false.

It looks like this is about experiences with the 51m and 4 other laptops. Should this go in the Alienware laptop or customer care forum?

@Vanadiel @"Right now I believe the Alienware systems do not enough to differentiate themselves from various other systems out there."
The plastic legend facia on the desktop is a somewhat unique feature, if mostly unrelated to performance. Others like Lenovo jumped on the windowed panel bandwagon.

I was more talking about performance differentiation. They should have 240 AIO options by now for the CPU's that incorporate more than 8 cores, or are known to be power hungry.
A better motherboard design is something else that should be available by now.
RGB options. I am not a big fan of lots of lights, but some people love RGB effects. Never understood why the white case had an RGB Alienware logo on the side, while the black case does not. They are both the same cases besides that item?
I personally don't think they will be able to keep using the current case options, because the thermal requirements for future products are likely going to go up.
I am sort of hoping the next Alienware products will be redesigned. Even a few small changes can make a big difference. $40 more for a retail board would be a welcome option.
