NVIDIA GeForce Desktop DC Graphics Driver

Can someone explain what exactly this NVIDIA GeForce Desktop DC Graphics Driver is. I have been getting my NVidia drivers from NVidia and I'm running the latest one 466.11, so it the same kind of driver?

Thanks

This is a bit of a long read but nicely explains the difference and what the DCH driver specifically is.

I am only aware of these being available: DCH drivers

Dell calls them DC drivers in the header, but you will see they are actually DCH drivers: Dell DC driver example

Not sure why they call them DC drivers.

This package contains the DCH graphics driver for NVIDIA Desktop GeForce RTX 20xx GPU products. A graphics or video driver is the software that enables communication between the graphics card and the operating system, games, and applications."

Okay cool this may be the driver I may be missing I don’t remember updating this driver and there is one for my R11 and 3090 so I’m gonna get this one update. It could be causing my DCS crash issue.

thanks and thanks for the read

Also, there may be some minor differences to make it run better (safer) with the R11. You can check the release notes but I suspect mostly you wouldn't know the differences /find the differences published anywhere.

If you're on 466.11 from Nvidia, you'd be rolling it backwards to get the one on Dell's website (461.37)

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=mkk6n&oscode=wt64a&productcode=alienware-aurora-r11-desktop

Nvidia always has the latest driver releases for Nvidia cards.

Dell is a couple month's behind the curve in that respect, I'd estimate that release to correspond to the equivalent of what Nvidia released probably around January 2021.

The dell release is a DCH driver version, BTW.  Just checked/validated for the Aurora R11.  You can play it safe and roll it backwards to the dell approved drivers, just won't get the cutting edge game ready drivers.

Okay we posted the same time. I don’t think I need it then because I have updated my nvidia drivers from nvidia and I’m on their latest one 466.11 so as you said why roll backwards. Thanks r72019.

Will I run in to any problems downloading this driver? Over the standard NVidia driver?

Yeah, I'd only change it backwards if I were experiencing a specific issue with the later release that I wanted corrected.

Disregard that last post about running into problems downloading. Well I checked and  looks like the Driver Type is a DCH and running Nvidia Driver 466.11. So I don't think I need to download it.
