PC says, No boot device detected, stuck in Alienware BIOS
Hello, I wanted to play some games on my computer, but however, when I tried to load it up, I got a screen that said, Secure Boot Violation. So I went to Bios to try to disable it, and I did. But now, I am stuck in BIOS, and I have figured out that my PC cannot detect a boot device. I am good with computers, but I have little knowledge on this type of topic. I see a tab that says Boot, and in the tab it says Boot option #1, #2, and #3. My boot list option is on UEFI, but I do not know how to change anything so my PC recognizes a boot device. Please help, Ryan

Hello, thanks for your response. I do not see that under boot priority 1. I only have ipv4 and ipv6 and something else with Windows in the name. When I go to legacy I can see my hard drive but it still does not load up normally and whenever I turn my pc off I get to the screen with the Alienware logo and at the bottom it says f2 setup and f12 boot menu. When I go into bios and try to exit it, I can’t it just shuts down my pc and goes to that exact same screen again. I can’t do anything but go into bios and press f12 but nothing in f12 works, Ive tried everything. It won’t boot. I ran diagnostics and everything passed.

Make sure your windows os drive is set as boot priority #1 and yes leave it on uefi. Reset and it should boot (ideally).

You want the one that indicates windows as your boot priority #1.
You don't want legacy, you want uefi.

I tried it, unfortunately it did not work, and I made the window one priority one and I still got to the screen with f2 and f12

Did you turn secure boot back on?
If you have secure boot on, boot priority #1 as windows drive, and on uefi settings, but still can't get it to boot after saving changes and restarting....your boot drive might be pooched.
If under warranty, have Dell supply a new drive (you will lose all your data though), but a good chance for a possible upgrade!
You can try the auto repair option if it comes up, or look into the usb recovery option (via google/dell instructions).
But again, I am inclined to assume the drive is the issue if you have your bios options all in check, and it might be worth replacing the drive to be on the safe side.
What are you using for your main drive? HDD? SSD? Optaine?
Seems Optaine has been coming up a bit lately with issues. If you are using Optaine, a work around may still exist that I am unaware of, so look further into it.
But you should really be using an SSD with no exceptions in my opinion.

When I turn secure boot on, I get a red box that says secure boot violation, then it goes to support assist and says boot device failed or no boot device detected. The pc is two months old and a few days ago it said secure boot violation but then it loaded up normally after that so I went to turn it off in bios and now I can’t get out of bios and i can’t get to windows.

At this point, disconnect your pc, open it up and check to see if the storage device is properly seated/ connected.
If after doing that, you get the same issue with all the proper settings. You best pick up the phone and call Dell, mention you are in need of a hard drive replacement and have them send a tech out. Or you can look into picking up a new drive on your own and do a fresh install of windows.
But before you ask Dell for a drive replacement, call tech support. Cross your fingers you get a person actually knowledgeable and willing to assist you over the phone (most are quick to say, we will send a tech out).
Still missing info regarding your drive? What type is it?

You don't know what type of hard drive you had purchased with the system?...
Should be on your sales receipt.
Never the less, it's not a major issue, I was only curious.
If your hard drive is not showing up under any of the boot priorities, than either your mobo isn't seeing it (physically disconnected or broken), or you are overlooking something within those settings (more likely).
Again you want
-uefi on
-boot priority #1 as windows or OS drive
I am thinking that Dell could possibly connect to your system remotely to help you get through it.
This probably happened due to you updating your bios or something of the like as "recommended" by support assist. The same exact issue happened to me, but I was getting blue screens and **bleep** as well. I just had to set my boot priorities again and after a few attempts, it worked. This is very likely your case, unless you do in fact have a failed hard drive.
Try uploading a couple of pics for the community here to help you if possible (with phone or external camera of some sort). Show us the bios screen and your list of boot options. I unfortunately won't be able to see them for several hours due to being at work with internet restrictions.

I don’t get why this would happen, I can’t access windows so I do not know the name. The PC is so new, why would this randomly happen, and my drive doesn’t show in boot priory one or two.

I was thinking about talking to support. I think I messed something up in settings but don’t know what to do. Would tech support help me, and where would I find the phone for that? And also is it bad that I have turned by pc on and off multiple times while trying to boot? Will that damage it?

No, you wouldn't be the only one to switch pc on and off during frustration.
But leave it to sleep when not in use in the future buddy. Turning it off is what 90 year olds without any idea do...
Start here for tech support. I recommend skipping all the fluff and getting straight to the phone call.

I turn my pc off when I don’t use it though. How long would tech support take and would they be able to directly access my pc? Also how do I send pictures on here?

Yes, you should contact them.
Hopefully the issue gets resolved without you having to send it out or something of the sort.
