SSD Raid caddy

Seeing asI had to remove the two 2.5 in disk bays from my aurora r7 to be able to fit an asus gtx 1070 card, I decided to make an adaptor to fit two 2.5 in SSD disks (configured as Raid) in the 3.5 in disk bay.

Take two strips of aluminium and drill some holes.

Fit a 2.5 in disk and bolt on to a 2.5 in to 3.5 in caddy. Stagger the brackets to give the lower right angle power and Sata connectors room.

Drill holes to clear the screw heads in the plastic dell quick fit adapter.

You can purchase adapter brackets from amazon for this purpose.

Good job never the less.

Thanks for pointing out that. Hmm mm I had a feeling these may be available, £9 on amazon and cheaper versions for less than £5 on ebay

Not that I'm being biased but mine is slightly better as allows right angle connectors to be use and there is an air gap between the disks to allow for cooling. Potentially a small fan could be fitted if required. Since I'm running in raid, the computer does not report temperature as it would for two separate disks.

Oh and its cheaper too since it was made from bits lying around, one side needed a fair bit of work as it was a piece of carpet gripper.
