Depends on WHICH version of X51 you have.

The original,  X51 or R1 or R2. (Checked tag, it is the R1. DELL-Chris M)

The R2 can take specific GTX1060 once the power supply is upgraded to 330W.

All of them can take GT1030 or GTX 1050TI  short card.  1050TI or better REQUIRES 330W power brick.

battore,

I checked the service tag number. You have the 2012 released X51 R1. It shipped with the 330W Delta power adapter.

gpu upgrade also depends on cpu spec.

Alienware x51 R1 has the following Ivy & Sandy Bridge processors:
  • Intel Core i3-2120 and 3220.
  • Intel Core i5-2320 and 3450.
  • Intel Core i7-2600 and 3770.

If you have the top i7-3770, you can upgrade to 1060.

Intel Core i7-3770 (Clock speed at 100%) with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (Clock speed at 100%) x1 will produce only 9.79% of CPU bottleneck on 1080p resolution.

if you have i7-2600, 1060 is too strong for it.  consider 1050 Ti.

Intel Core i7-2600 (Clock speed at 100%) with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (Clock speed at 100%) x1 will produce 16.8% of CPU bottleneck on 1080p resolution. Everything over 10% is considered as bottleneck.

Intel Core i7-2600 (Clock speed at 100%) with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (Clock speed at 100%) x1 will produce only 3.46% of CPU bottleneck on 1080p resolution.

whatever gpu you pick, make sure it is blower type (X51 has sff case and poor air flow).  length of card not exceeding your current Dell oem card.
