X51 R2, CD stuck in optical drive

Good Morning/Evening/Afternoon.

I'll get right to it, I have an Alienware X51 R2 from 2014 with most of it's original parts still inside. Recently, I put a CD Game inside my optical drive and it never read on the system or ejected itself. It is repeatedly trying to eject the disc and has been doing this for 3 days now. I have seen that there are some solutions available for this and I have tried them all, but all those methods have been unsuccesful. I need legitamite help here, is there any ideas?

I eventually resorted to physically removing the disc by hand. It got so notorious I just could not handle it anymore. Luckily I only had to remove 1 screw and unplug the cable and out the whole ODD came. I then took a key and moved the pin ( that prevents the disc from free falling out of the drive) to the side to it's " open " position and out the disc came.

Have you tried the procedure listed on this page?

I wish I could try this, however I do not have the “tray” on this pc. This particular desktop has a CD Slot for Blue Ray Discs, so I do not have a pinhole anywhere I can use.

X51 does not come with Slot load drive therefore its Not a Dell support issue.

You will have to consult the maker of the drive to find out if there is a hidden place to put a paperclip into with the DATA cable , and power cable removed to eject the media. Otherwise your drive is DEAD FOREVER with a disk stuck in it.

Apple slot load sony drives have a specific spot where paperclip goes in to do this.

Re: It is repeatedly trying to eject the disc and has been doing this for 3 days now.

slot loading odd is notorious when they get old and dysfunctional.  If you really need to retrieve the disc or cannot leave it inside indefinitely, you will have to remove the entire odd assembly and unscrew the top cover.  mind you it may not be easy to reassemble the odd after this procedure.  consider the odd has reached end of life.  either replace it or do not use it anymore.  been there and done that with another slot loading odd on AW.  yes when they work they are great, but when they fail...
