Alienware 15 Graphics Amplifier or Other Options
I am using a Alienware 15 with 980m 4g and i7 -4710Hq processor , since the 10x series of graphics card are out , if i buy a graphics amplifier and a 10x graphics card (say 1070) which will cost around 800 euros in total here .Will it be optimal ?
Or should I skip on the graphic amp and wait for the 10x graphic card series laptops to come out and then buy them after a year (probably with the next generation intel chip) !!!
I havent used any gaming laptops in a while , based on user experience who are in this forum how long do you think i can play games using this config
i7 -4710Hq
980m 4gb
16gb ram
and i am not a fan of high graphics , i just like to play with no hiccups
Thank you for any help .

I actually just read on the new 10xx series of 'mobile' chips from nvidia that are coming out. It seems that Nvidia is going to make them all desktop class but around 10 percent lower in overall power to their desktop counterparts. They will not be called mobile but just their number like GTX 1060, in a laptop. If you can live with a 10 percent (or so) drop in performance then i'd wait for an integrated solution but it may be a few months, near towards the end of the year.
As for what you can play with the 980m you should be able to play anything out their right now, it just depends on what settings in the game you like to use. If you are looking for maxed settings the 980 will start to struggle on some AAA games form what I've read, but imho you should be fine for a few years with that one.

One thing to note: if you mostly game at a single location where the tether isn't a problem, one big advantage of the amplifier is that your laptop won't get especially hot while gaming. I have a UHD Alienware 17, and an amplifier with a GTX 1080 inside, and it runs great... And the laptop stays nice and cool even when running games at 4K resolution.
(That said, I won't rule out getting a newer model when the 10xx laptops hit the market. ;)
