Alienware Aurora R4 water cooling diagnosis help!

Alienware Aurora R4 Water Cooling issue - need to try and fix by removing the heatsink

Can anyone advise on how to do this safely?

I was looking at Goldfire's post here -

I suspect i've got the same problem, just struggling to get the heatsink off so I can see for sure.

I've removed the screws  that looked to be holding the heatsink in place, but it wont budge,

any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks,

P

If you are sure you have removed all 4 screws (or backed-them-out all the way) ... the thermal paste has likely dried and is now acting like glue. VERY GENTLY try twisting or rocking it back and forth.

your best option is to search 01YGW on eBay and upgrade to the larger better R4 cooler, now or down the road, since those do not clog up

i agree with Tesla. probably just the old Thermal Paste holding everything together. now grab it by a Covfefe and pull a bit harder.
