Yes, that is correct. Because the battery is designed to stop using the charger when it reaches full charge. When the AC adapter is plugged into the wall socket, the battery charge is not being used.

Battery will not be damaged as such but battery life depends on recharge cycles. Each battery approximately has 300-500 recharge cycles. Irrespective of the applications that you are working on, battery will show a reduction in performance after an year.

Hi, what Satya is stating is correct, the system stops using the battery charge when it reaches %100 charge and starts using the AC adapter, and Lithium-ion batteries are subject to aging even when not in use, so if you want to reduce the aging effect a little, you can remove it from the system with 40% charge and keep it in a cool place.
