Alienware M17 wont boot

On Friday my nvidia control panel downloaded and installed new drivers. Since this, I'm unable to boot the system. It boots to a black screen with the Alienware word and logo and hangs there. I have tried bypassing it to no avail. In addition, the fans are not spinning on the bottom and it's making a very high pitch "whirring" noise. I have attempted to call Dell tech support three times in a row this morning only to have my call disconnected every time they attempt to transfer me to Alienware Support. Does anyone know a direct number for Alienware Support, or any potential resolutions? Thanks, Tox

Hello Toxziq!

Were you able to get in touch with the technical support site?

Unfortunately no. Every time I called in and was told I had to be transferred I was disconnected. I tried the official Alienware number online and other dell numbers and every time I was told I needed to be transferred and the line was cut.

I've run my own diagnostics and determined it is a failed hard drive. I more than likely would have purchased an extended warranty but with the phone connections I moved on.

Are you able to run a PSA diagnostics by pressing F12 several times at the start up?

I was able to run the alienware diagnostics from that screen yes, and it showed a failure on the hard drive. I've since purchased a new SSD 2.5" Samsung and new OS to replace the hard drives in the system and will rebuild with it. Working with a dat recovery service to capture data off the old drives.

Yes that might fix the problem, if you are still under warranty we can replace the hard driver for you as well.

I am no longer under warranty unfortunately.  I've upgraded to two 1TB SSD drives and have rebuilt my OS.
