Alienware m17x R3 - Win 10 upgrade
Hi,
I have an Alienware m17x R3 (2011) which came with Win7. Dell/Alienware did not bother to provide updated official drivers for Win8/8.1 on this model.
My question is, should I reserve an upgrade to Win10, will there be any driver support from Dell for this new OS or I'm just stuck with Win7 forever on this Alienware model?
Thank you!

I download the driver after upgraded,
Nvidia driver, direct, from nvidia website (choose your GPU) : www.nvidia.fr/.../index.aspx
Intel Rapid Storage for windows 10 : downloadcenter.intel.com/.../Pilote-RAID-pour-la-technologie-de-stockage-Intel-Rapid

Hey all,
Again - I have a M17x R3 with an AMD 6970M.
I initially moved to Win10 - and could not game. Guess the drivers weren't doing it for the AMD gpu.
I tried a couple hacked drivers, and didn't have any luck.
Well - I just got the latest AMD drivers that were pushed out through updates, and it seems to have addressed the issue.
When I first tried them I got the same Steam error that the graphics card couldn't support OpenGl 3.2 or whatever, but when I switched the application preference to maximum performance it did the trick.
I didn't think Dell was allowing the gpu updates... I stand corrected! And I appreciate being able to use my expensive former-paperweight.

Gentleman Don't waste your time this will never be fixed, nor will Dell upgrade video cards to properly install windows 10...I have Alienware M17x (2009) with 2 sli 260m and 1 6400 video cards in my machine...runs great...installed SSD drive for the Windows 10 install forthcoming...and find out that all i got was standard video driver not recognising any of my cards...The answer simple, Dell being a huge Computer manufacturer in the computer world wants you to replace your desk top laptop and so on...Revenue is what its all about...use your machines until windows 7 is not updated anymore, by then it will make a good door stop....the solution I WILL NEVER BUY AND MY GAMING FRIENDS WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER DELL PRODUCT AGAIN EVER...The answer.....wait for it........yes sir bought a great gaming machine laptop and am wild happy how fast and gee drivers are properly updated where they are supposed to be WINDOWS 10 FLYS......I use my alienware m17x to hold up my hood on my car...Alienware orignal company you are not Dell, this would have been fixed asap by them...but this is what it is...so long....would not waste another dime on Dell as long as i live and my 45 other gamers agree..

Hope if not Dell, then someone else will create a new driver for us. Waiting around to upgrade.
