Alienware x51 continuous beeping
My alienware x51 stopped working and started to make short one beeps non stop. I contacted alienware support and they told me that it was my motherboard but upon looking at this post http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19519543.aspx it seems like replacing my motherboard wouldn't work so I would like to know if it really is my motherboard before I replace it.

egore11,
Below are the Alienware desktop Beep Codes -
1 Possible motherboard failure or the monitor is connected to wrong HDMI port on the X51
2 No RAM detected
3 Motherboard chipset failure
4 RAM read/write failure
5 Real Time Clock failure (If the monitor is connected to the onboard HDMI port when a discrete video card is installed, the X51 will produce the 5 beeps)
6 Video card failure
7 Processor Failure
Is the monitor connected to the bottom discrete video card?

What specific video card is installed? What ports are on the monitor?

I believe I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 645 and the ports on the monitor are one dvi-d port and one vga port. The monitor is just black and the computer keeps beeping.

The GTX645 has DVI-I/DP/HDMI. Do you have and HDMI to HDMI cable on hand to test with? If yes,
monitor HDMI --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> GTX645 HDMI port
monitor HDMI --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> X51 onboard HDMI port
