Aurora R2 front panel stuck

So I don't think the front panel assembly was covered in the breakdown videos posted in the FAQ section.

The door is being hindered by something when attempting to pull up the door.

I notice two major mechanisms at work...

1) the steel ribbon mounted at the bottom seems to be working properly as is still connected to the door.

2)A small plastic gear mechanism mounted in the chassis perpendicular to the door.

The 2nd mechanism seems to be the problem, but I have no idea how it's supposed to work as I can't see in there and don't feel like ripping my tower apart to find out...

Any ideas? I should still be covered on service warranty and would rather someone come fix this thing if it's too much hassle...
