bios update failed

Any ideas on how to get my area-51 back booting... flashed to latest bios, reboot and machine will power on but that's it no beeps, no video nothing, trying the bios reset pins 2-3 for 5 seconds while power is switched off but made no difference, any ideas anyone?

Sounds like the BIOS update failed and if it did then it's toast. You need to call Dell and have the motherboard replaced.

eddy77,

You might need to mention this to Technical Support -

Since the PC is still under warranty, Dell must replace the motherboard since the Bios update file was validated and posted on our File Library.

Chris, would you suggest if we are out of warranty to never update the Bios?

If out of warranty, the Bios Update should only be done when prompted by Dell Support. If prompted by Dell Support and the Bios update fails and corrupts the motherboard, we would do a 1 time motherboard replacement.

If out of warranty and you do it without our prompting, you will have to buy the motherboard.
