Command Center: A-51 CPU Pump "Failed"
I have a brand new Area-51. Since that day I got it has a status of "Failed" for CPU Pump. Doesn't seem to impact the temperature at all, and the computer runs mostly fine (an occasional BSOD). My sense is that it's a software issue rather than a hardware issue. Any thoughts on how to fix it?
Also, occasionally my system won't boot at all. I just get repeated 4 quick beeps. Turning it off and on again usually fixes that. Again, nothing I can't live with, but annoying for such an expensive piece of hardware.
Thanks!

As you note, your A-51 is brand new, it maybe best to have a Dell/Alienware rep chime in here, or a call into tech-support to work out the bugs. It's a weekend, & you prob wanna get some answers though. May not get it fixed, but reassurance 'something's being done' in the meantime.
I have an R1, so 'back in the old days', I would have jiggled the pump connector. In a failed pump scenario (a poor or 'no' connection etc), eventually the system fan would ramp up as cpu temp rised (call it 2000-4000rpm). Your radiator fan is the canary in a way, rpm's 1500rpm or below would tend to suggest the pump is running, regardless 'status'. A cpu temp above 140f @ idle might denote a failed / unpowered pump, when 110f or below is what we might expect as normal. It is possible the wire or pin that denotes pump status isn't making contact, yet the wire/pin for pwr/ground are. Jiggle it while you check your lcd monitor. Induce it to say running etc, if it can
If you can, & you should do it anyway, image your drive (acronis / dvd's / external hdd etc) onto a spare drive. On the spare drive, 'reinstall / repair' command center perhaps. See if it works. We woulda done that in the old days. If neither work, I step out of the conversation, since your desktop is under warranty, & best left in the hands of the warranty provider.

Hello Csm5!
The 4 beeps are relates to memory there is a possibility that one of them is loose and the BSOD could be related to that, it will be great if you can get the error code and the cause by driver.
Make sure the system is not overheating, you can download a program to check temperatures and if you feel comfortable you can open the system and check if everything is well connected including the CPU fan.
As well could you please send me a PM with your service tag and a brief description of the problem so I can check the account?
Thank you!

no doubt we can be sure your pc left the nursery w/a clean bill of health, but may have settled during shipping: carefully, carefully re-seating the memory dimms (& cpu pump connector) may be in order.
I trust Intel's extreme tuning utility to divine the temps on all cores of my Intel cpu, but you can try hw monitor etc. I do not use it to oc, just for temps & random data etc.
IDK what the newest CmndCntr 'does', but xtu shows temps for my 4 cores, by clicking the 'wrench' icon, & checking off the cores of interest. You would do this to grab temps off your 6 or 8 individual cores etc, & other pertinent info. Whether you need this app or HW monitor, I've chimed in for other Area-51 / Aurora owners who browse this thread later also.

The new CmndCntr has thermal Control tab that show the temp sensor and fan adjustment.
I had the same problem of CPU pump failed but my tower doesn't beep nor blink. When I try to adjust the fan, this is what I got on the error pop up :(

Launch CommandCenter Setup > clik 'repair'. If no good:
CmndCntr 2.8.11 (requires .netframework 3.5)
CmndCntr 2.8.09
All things related to fixing an MIO:
Note: no I do not think your mio board died, but in the thread above you can find tips/tricks/help with:

How many of the above suggestions have you tried so far on your Area51-R2?
At a minimum, you should probably try:
- Dissipate flea-power and try a uninstall and clean-install of latest, proper, Command Center.
- Observe whether other "Command Center" features like lights are working. Might help with tracking-down a fix.
- Re-seat all plugs and connectors on Asetek Liquid-Cooler and MIO-Board-like header board
- Run ePSA (outside of Windows) and see if you get any indication the pump-impeller and the radiator-fan are working
- Record cpu-core temps at Idle-Desktop and Max-Gaming to see if you actually have a cooling problem, or is that AW-CC pump error a false positive.
Finally, depending on results of above trouble-shooting, the Alienware-OEM Asetek Liquid-Cooler assembly might need to be replaced. Either because it was identified as failing or because you have run-out of other (simpler) possibilities. After years of use, they do eventually go bad.
