Dark line on screen and overheating

When i turned on my MX14 R2 Alienware laptop on this morning to play games, i found that midway down the screen the screen is darker. it is not fully black but it is as if the brightness is at its lowest just in that part. the line goes from the top of the screen, about half way down then turns slightly right. the back of the screen is also overheating. where the icon is, it is seriously hot and very warm down the line where the screen is dark. can i please get some help
