Does alienware overheat while using graphic amplifier?

forgive me if my question sounds stupid cuz im not a pro in the mobile gaming realm. i read a review bout alienware 17 overheats without the amp. im wondering will it overheat with the amp? my guess that there're fans in the amp to cool the external gpu, so the laptop will not overheat. if this is true, will the cpu alone run hot while gaming? im considering hardware longetiviy issues before making up my mind while saving money. the rog gx800 is cool but the gpu r not upgradable & is too expensive, asides that its too big n heavy for my study desk.

Short answer: no.  The laptop stays quite cool when running off the external GPU.  It warms up compared to idle temp, but is not "hot", nor do the fans make the laptop sound like it's preparing to take off.  As for future GPU, I am running a gtx 1080 in my graphics amp, so it supports anything current.  Obviously if there is a breakthrough that obsoletes PCIe, you're out of luck, but for now you're limited only by graphics cards that are PCIe, and driver support.
