Graphics card protective covering?

Hi i just got my GTX 970 and i installed it fine and everything, But i think i left a little bit of plastic film on the card. Will the plastic melt or will it be fine?

Thanks :)

Hi,

The GTX tend to get very hot, it would be best to remove the plastic. We do not know if eventually it can cause further damage.

Hello Wightwolfe,

I would strongly recommend to have it removed because it isn't part of the actual GPU card. Meaning that there is always a risk like having cables near the fans and/or heat sink or like the plastic file.

Just take your time to remove it and be careful not to damage the hardware. Being safe and following the warnings/instructions is always a smart move.

You have a good day!

Thank you guys! I just opened my x51 and removed the plastic. I do have one issue though, Ive used the 970 for about 3 hours now and when I opened it up it was very hot. Ive got msi afterburner on and it says (when im in games) 80-90 degrees. Is this unusual? and will it limit the lifespan of my pc/gpu? Thanks :)

Edit : 80-90 degrees Celsius

The temperature in this laptop is normal so don't worry.
